Lydia Home

LYDIA Home was founded in Chicago’s Northwest side as an orphanage in 1916. They have been in continuous operation, serving children in need, for more than a century.

Their mission is to strengthen families to care for their own children and to care for children when families cannot. Their programs are meant to both serve the youth in their care and be a blessing to the local community. Intact Family Services ensures the safety and well-being of children, without the need for removal and out-of-home placement, by providing families with needed in-home services. The goal is to see the overall number of children in substitute care continue to decrease slowly over time. It is designed to assist families who have been reported to DCFS for concerns of abuse or neglect. LYDIA Staff ensures the child’s development, safety and well-being by strengthening and supporting families, empowering kids exposed to trauma to believe in a brighter tomorrow. LYDIA provides an integrated, holistic approach to help children recover from the emotional, physical and/or sexual abuse they’ve endured. For those who live at LYDIA, home means a safe and nurturing environment for them to grow and develop.
